We're Entering a New Phase in AI: From Knowing to DoingI love doing this newsletter, and unless I get smacked by a bus, I'm just getting started. That said, I'll be taking some time off next week and will return strong on Tuesday, Aug. 12. However, I'll be posting one more edition this Friday, so you can keep an eye out for that in your Inbox. I'll be using the week off to catch up with my kiddo and work on some premium consultancy features, as well as the Aug. 13 virtual session, ChatGPT in Action: Hands-On Training for Daily Practitioners. In this 90-minute session, I'll be walking students through the many features that ChatGPT has to offer:
And whatever else OpenAI might surprise us with between now and then. My guests are going to learn the difference between the various models and Plans, and they'll leave with a working knowledge of how and when to use each one. The presentation itself is being offered to members of the Missouri-Arkansas-Kansas-Oklahoma (MAKO) Chambers of Commerce, but I will also make it available later on. It's the first of six planned presentations set to run through January 2026. What Comes Next?Over the last two years, we’ve talked a lot about what AI is and why it matters. That foundation is useful, but I feel like we're entering a new phase. Using AI is no longer a nice-to-have; it's a necessity. Virtually every entity, from small businesses to large corporations, has some sort of exposure to it. My goal for the rest of 2025 is to mine the value from that and make mAIn Street less knowledge-based and more applicable. That could mean showing you how to:
Part of my next week off will be about developing the specifics for how that will happen, and I'm very excited about showing you what I come up with. In the Meantime
I’m excited to move from “knowing” to doing together. See you Friday for the last pre-vacation issue—and back in force on Aug. 12. Until then, keep experimenting. Base44 Builds Fully Functional Apps in MinutesBase44 lets you skip the boilerplate and go straight from plain-English ideas to a fully hosted web or mobile app. Type what you want, and its “Builder Chat” spins up everything—database, backend logic, APIs, auth, email, payments, file storage, even analytics—while “Discussion Mode” gives you a sandbox to brainstorm features without touching production. Need extra magic? One-click “Intelligent Add-Ons” bolt on chatbots, predictive insights, or automations, and a growing marketplace connects to staples like Slack, HubSpot, OpenAI TTS, and Zapier. Real-time collaboration, version control, GitHub sync, and responsive visual editing round out a batteries-included stack that’s as friendly to designers as it is to dev teams. The momentum is hard to miss: over 400K users have already adopted the platform, and in June 2025, Wix snapped it up for roughly $80 million—validation that “describe it, build it” development is moving mainstream. If you need an MVP, internal tool, or full-blown SaaS and don’t fancy wiring up infrastructure by hand, Base44 puts shipping speed on autopilot.
