We're Entering a New Phase in AI: From Knowing to Doing

I love doing this newsletter, and unless I get smacked by a bus, I'm just getting started.

That said, I'll be taking some time off next week and will return strong on Tuesday, Aug. 12. However, I'll be posting one more edition this Friday, so you can keep an eye out for that in your Inbox.

I'll be using the week off to catch up with my kiddo and work on some premium consultancy features, as well as the Aug. 13 virtual session, ChatGPT in Action: Hands-On Training for Daily Practitioners.

In this 90-minute session, I'll be walking students through the many features that ChatGPT has to offer:

• Agent Mode
• Image Generation
• Projects
• Tasks
• Deep Research
• CustomGPTs
• Sora
• Codex

And whatever else OpenAI might surprise us with between now and then.

My guests are going to learn the difference between the various models and Plans, and they'll leave with a working knowledge of how and when to use each one.

The presentation itself is being offered to members of the Missouri-Arkansas-Kansas-Oklahoma (MAKO) Chambers of Commerce, but I will also make it available later on.

It's the first of six planned presentations set to run through January 2026.

What Comes Next?

Over the last two years, we’ve talked a lot about what AI is and why it matters. That foundation is useful, but I feel like we're entering a new phase.

Using AI is no longer a nice-to-have; it's a necessity. Virtually every entity, from small businesses to large corporations, has some sort of exposure to it.

My goal for the rest of 2025 is to mine the value from that and make mAIn Street less knowledge-based and more applicable. That could mean showing you how to:

1. Ship more products
2. Measure real savings (or revenue)
3. Build repeatable playbooks and workflows
4. Know when to AI and when not to AI, or simply show you what to do with the time AI saves you

Part of my next week off will be about developing the specifics for how that will happen, and I'm very excited about showing you what I come up with.

In the Meantime

1. Use AI like an operating system. Doesn't matter if it's Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude. Log in, prompt it, iterate, and create something you're proud of.
2. Share your hiccups. I'd love to hear where your friction points are. It can help me help you.
3. Pass it on. If something I say or have said helps you, forward it to one colleague. Growing our community and learning from one another is how we stay viable in the AI age.

I’m excited to move from “knowing” to doing together. See you Friday for the last pre-vacation issue—and back in force on Aug. 12.
