🧠Steal This Prompt: The Garbage Pail Kids, YOU EditionIf you grew up in the 80s—or you're just a fan of it from the countless nostalgia tributes of today's pop culture—you're no doubt familiar with the Garbage Pail Kids. For those who aren't, Garbage Pail Kids were collectible sticker trading cards originally released by Topps 40 years ago. They're known for grotesque parodies of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls popular at the time. Each card featured a character with a punny name and a humorous, gross, or weird image, accompanied by humorous wordplay or alliterative names. The cards were huge in the '80s and have since become cult classics. Even the atrocious film tie-in has garnered something of a cult status in the ensuing decades. I suppose it was only a matter of time before 4o Image Generation found a way to capitalize. At least at the time of this post, you can do one of your own without running into OpenAI's copyright constraints. There are some pretty cool ones jumping on the trend. Here's how Saved by the Bell might have played out within the GPK universe.
Want to create one of your own? It's super-simple to pull off. STEAL THE PROMPT HERE📰 I Ran a Deep Research Report on MyselfWhat’s Next for Hiring, Dating, Planning, and Market Research Now That Anyone CanIt started as an experiment. I asked an advanced AI assistant (Gemini’s Deep Research with 2.5 Pro*) to compile an in-depth profile of me — Aric Mitchell, the Public Information Officer for the Fort Smith Police Department, the guy who teaches AI classes, runs the “mAIn Street” newsletter, and once upon a time, wrote some horror and pulp fiction. I fed it the details I knew, the breadcrumbs of my professional life scattered across the internet. (*If using ChatGPT, use the o3 Advanced Reasoning model with Deep Research selected.) Here’s the prompt I used: I need an in-depth research report on Aric Mitchell (that’s me). There may be other Aric Mitchells out there, but you need to focus on me. I have been the Public Information Officer for the Fort Smith Police Department since October 1, 2018. Prior to that, I was a freelance copywriter for a number of outlets (too many to fully list from memory). Additionally, I wrote a horror novel called The Congregation, a pulp story that Pro Se Press published, and a comic horror short called, “The Monster of Looking Glass County” that was published in the horror anthology Grave Conditions. See what you can come up with based on this information. It returned with a detailed research plan. I added one more thing to it before telling it to run the report: I forgot to mention the core of my work now. While I am still the PIO, I also teach classes on AI and run a daily newsletter called mAIn Street that publishes through Kit, Medium, LinkedIn, and Substack. Currently, I have around 501 opt-in subscribers. With that in place, it was off to the races. CLICK HERE TO READ THE REPORT AND SEE WHAT'S NEXTTHE HEADLINES
TOOL SPOTLIGHT: Skyreels, the Breakthrough Open-Source AI Video GeneratorSkyreels, the new open-source video generator, is out. The tool's underlying model, trained on the open-source "Hunuan," is producing insanely good results, particularly in terms of realism. This can be a common challenge for text-to-video models. The open-source nature of Skyreels allows users with sufficient GPU power to install and run the tool locally, with the code available on GitHub. Demo videos showcase the impressive quality and smoothness of the generated content, even with multiple faces and varying expressions. The accompanying platform provides a user-friendly interface with several functionalities, including:
The platform also includes a storyboard editing feature, allowing users to extend existing videos using the last frame or insert new images to create longer narratives. V2 even boasts "infinite-length" capabilities. Export options with adjustable video quality are available. GET STARTED HERERead All mAIn Street Back Issues HereYour input fuels the content.
