Job-hunting with ChatGPT; Beginner resources to learn prompting; and a 'Social Algorithm Hacker' prompt

  • Set up a ChatGPT finance project (UK): OP asks how to configure a ChatGPT “Project” for personal finances—budgeting, debt tracking, spare-cash decisions, and beginner investing—plus what files to upload or avoid. Useful thread to crib setup checklists and safety considerations.
  • Job hunting with ChatGPT: workflows and gaps: Post reviewing how ChatGPT helped a relocation job search—resume tailoring, application throughput—while noting limitations like site logins/search. Thread surfaces workarounds and practical prompting for applications, profiles, and interview prep.
  • Regex explainer and generator workflow: Tip thread showing how to paste a gnarly regex and have ChatGPT explain each token, propose simpler equivalents, and test against sample strings. Treat it like a regex tutor/debugger to reduce trial-and-error.
  • Beginner resources for learning ChatGPT prompts: Request for free, beginner-friendly training on prompting and best practices. Good place to mine community-vetted intros, guides, and starter frameworks without paywalls or upsells.
  • ‘Social Algorithm Hacker’ prompt lesson: A structured prompt that treats AI as a “social algorithm reverse engineer” to analyze how platform dynamics shape offline interactions. Includes role, instructions, required outputs (detection, debugging), and a cyberpunk-style narrative wrapper.
  • ‘Prompting vs. Relating’: conversational approach matters: Opinion thread arguing results improve when you build continuity and “relate” to the model—less nagging, more collaborative expectations—versus vending-machine prompting. Takeaway: Establish style and goals; you’ll often reduce boilerplate behaviors.

Another One of Those ‘Given Everything You Know About Me’ Prompts

The one feature that has kept me at ChatGPT for longer than any other is the ability to draw insights from all your chats from the dawn of time (aka when you opened your account).

That has led to a rise in “Given Everything You Know About Me” prompts. Today, I used it to figure out where I fall in this whole AI Skills race.

THE EXACT PROMPT: Given everything you know about me, especially my use of ChatGPT across all threads, how would you rate my AI skills preparedness for the modern world on a scale of 0–100?

I set the model to “5 Thinking” for the best results.

After 1 minute, 41 seconds, the session generated a report that labeled my AI Skills Preparedness at 84/100.

“You’re operating in the top ~10–15% of practical AI operators I see ,” the Chat read, “especially for communication-heavy roles. The gap between you and a 90+ is mostly automation depth, eval discipline, and monetization systems, not raw skill or judgment.

That was the overview. The whole report is impressive, and you can check it out here.

What I really like about it is how it breaks the overall score down into several subdisciplines, scored on a scale of 1–10. I had a lot of 8s and 9s, but I’m the type who likes to spot my weaknesses, so I gravitated towards anything below 8.
