ChatGPT Has Upgraded (and Downgraded) Its 'Thinking' ModelChatGPT has answered complaints over how long it takes to get an answer out of its "5 Thinking" model by breaking it into four submodels (Light, Standard, Extended, and Heavy). The fragmentation comes at the expense of the "5 mini-Thinking" model, which was incorporated into its larger counterpart. Essentially, you're now getting four reasoning models instead of two. This allows you to customize the amount of reasoning power you allocate to the model per input. So, let's say you want to start by cracking your problem wide open with "Heavy" thinking, but then you have some lower-level follow-up questions that don't require as much of a response. You can just click the chatbox's drop-down and pick the reasoning power you feel is best for that particular question. Click here to see the full experiment that I ran on the same prompt. Oboe Makes AI Courses to Your SpecsOboe (launched this week) bills itself as the first “generalized” AI learning platform, turning any prompt into a tidy, shareable mini-course in seconds. Instead of loose chat replies, Oboe structures topics into lessons, summaries, memory aids, quizzes, and optional audio, then recommends related rabbit holes so you steer the journey—not an ad feed. Built by Anchor cofounders Nir Zicherman and Mike Mignano, it aims to make learning lightweight, fast, and fun, with built-in fact-checking systems to reduce AI errors. The free tier lets you create up to five courses; paid plans unlock more. Early feedback praises the clean UI and requests tweaks like wider reading space and “now-playing” highlighting in audio—both on the team’s list. On the roadmap: course editing, non-English support, video lessons, and tone controls. For curious self-learners, educators, and teams, Oboe is a compelling, structured alternative to aimless browsing.
