President Trump announced a “Super Intelligence Force” on Sunday, led by intelligence director Jay Clayton, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology official Emil Michael and personnel director Scott Kupor. It will coordinate federal engagement with consumers, public-interest and religious groups, infrastructure providers and AI companies.
The group reports to Trump and Susie Wiles. It follows last week’s voluntary AI accord; the announcement itself adds no binding rules for businesses.

An Arizona appeals court ordered a new sentencing hearing for Gabriel Paul Horcasitas after a judge relied on an AI-generated video portraying the deceased victim speaking. The September 30 opinion upheld the manslaughter conviction but vacated the sentence because the video was unreliable.
The victim’s family had supplied words for the recreation. The court said the video presented imagined thoughts as if they came from the victim himself, and the judge treated them as genuine. This is a ruling about that sentencing, not a nationwide ban on AI evidence. It shows how a convincing likeness can be mistaken for a reliable account.

Apple says it will require more explicit user action before an app receives Full Disk Access on a Mac. That powerful permission can expose documents, mail, messages and browsing history. Apple links the planned change to increasingly autonomous AI agents that can act across a computer.
This is an announcement of stricter controls, with no rollout date or macOS version specified. For anyone putting an assistant to work on a company Mac, the immediate question is which files it actually needs. Access to one approved project folder is a different decision from access to everything on the machine.

Amazon says it has stopped using nondisclosure agreements with government agencies on its data-center projects. Its new Built Together program also commits more than $1 billion over five years to education, skilled-job training, energy upgrades and other priorities in communities hosting its facilities.
The transparency change matters as towns weigh the land, electricity and infrastructure required by AI. The funding is a company commitment, with programs and eligibility still being developed; it is not a record of benefits already delivered. Residents and local businesses can compare the promises with the terms of projects proposed in their area.

OpenAI is rolling out Finances to eligible U.S. users on Free and Go plans, joining Plus and Pro. On the web, iOS and Android, people can connect accounts through Plaid and ask about spending, subscriptions, bills and investments. Credit-report information uses a separate Experian connection.
The feature can organize and explain information, but it cannot move money, pay bills, make trades or file taxes. Missing transactions or incomplete syncing can affect its answers. Review the data permissions and your ChatGPT model-training settings before connecting sensitive records, and check consequential financial decisions with a qualified professional.

AI WORKFLOWS | MONDAY: CAPABILITY MAPPING
AI can prepare your next vendor renewal for a decision.
In an October 2 discussion piece, procurement network EBG contrasted growing interest in AI agents with its summer review of more than 60 Nordic purchasing job ads. Most still emphasized familiar duties and Excel. The small review raises a useful question for your own work: which parts of a purchasing decision can you now delegate?
Monday’s skill is capability mapping. Break a real job into pieces, test what AI can handle, and mark where your judgment belongs. The result should describe work you can hand over with confidence.
Suppose you’re an office coordinator reviewing a copier-service renewal. The proposed monthly price looks lower. But the included pages, extra-page charges and repair coverage might have changed. You need a comparison you can check before recommending another year.
Use ChatGPT Work with your company-approved Google Drive connection. Give it the vendor’s name and the approved folder. Let it retrieve the existing agreement, renewal quote, usage records and last year’s invoices. Work needs an eligible paid plan; the connection and permitted actions depend on your account and company settings. Start with read-only source access. An approved file upload is a fallback if the connection cannot read a required document.
|
Delegate: Find the documents, separate current terms from proposed terms, identify missing attachments, and build a comparison workbook with formulas and source links. |
|
Review: Check the source behind every changed price, page allowance, service exclusion and notice deadline. Recalculate one month yourself. Ask your contract reviewer about unclear terms. |
|
Decide: Judge service reliability, downtime and whether to renew, negotiate or seek another quote. Keep vendor messages, cancellations and commitments behind your approval. |
Ask it to explain what drives the cost difference: lower base charges, changed page allowances or service fees. That gives you specific questions for the vendor and arithmetic you can inspect. A missing fee must stay an unanswered question, never become zero.
Give the agent this assignment
Prepare a copier-renewal decision brief using only the approved vendor folder. List the files you actually read and flag missing, unreadable or conflicting material. Compare current and proposed terms. Build a separate workbook showing both plans at last year’s actual monthly usage and at 20% higher usage. Use formulas, label assumptions and link each input to its source page or cell. Separate recurring charges from one-time fees and unknown costs. Return the workbook, a one-page brief and questions for the vendor. Do not edit source files, contact anyone, accept terms or make purchases.
Work can create the document and spreadsheet; correctness still needs testing. First run a closed renewal whose figures you know. It passes only if the source figures and calculations match, missing terms stay marked unknown, and changing the usage input updates the totals. Keep any step that failed under Review. Fix failures before using the live quote. Measure time saved after subtracting your review and repair time.
Managers can ask each person to bring one tested capability map. Keep a named reviewer for contract interpretation and purchasing authority.
Choose one renewal due this quarter and test the comparison on its previous agreement today.

Metrigy’s weighted survey of 1,000 adults puts frequent AI use at 39.6%, up 5.1 percentage points from the previous quarter. Respondents became more optimistic about AI’s effects on their own lives while their expectations for society weakened. Greater use does not necessarily mean greater trust.

Pew supplied AI with profiles of real respondents and asked it to answer three polls. The simulated results differed from human answers by an average 12.4 percentage points.
