TikTok announced a conversational Shopping Assistant and Buy Direct checkout with commerce and payments partners including Shopify, Salesforce and Stripe. The proposed shopping flow would answer questions about products, shipping, sizes and availability during the purchase conversation.
The October 5 package also includes AI-guided lead qualification and broader access to TikTok’s advertising connector. For retailers and service businesses, it is a sign of where customer questions and transactions are heading. The shopping experience is still being built, and TikTok gave no universal merchant rollout date. Check availability before planning a campaign around it.

RealAssist AI is now part of the Realtor.com+ workspace for real estate professionals. It helps set up clients and saved searches, summarizes client activity in a daily digest, and prepares follow-up messages or search changes for the agent to approve.
This is the professional-side release, separate from the earlier consumer home-search assistant. The practical appeal is getting a useful first draft from information already in the workspace. Agents still need to check the client’s situation and approve the next step; the announcement does not establish how much time the tool saves.

Figma made its design agent generally available on October 6. Teams can give it design-library guidelines, search Figma files from a conversation and see coworkers’ agents working on the canvas. That makes it easier to connect an AI request with a team’s existing design work.
The end of beta also changes the bill. The design agent and Weave tools now use the shared Figma AI-credit budget. The design agent’s credit use depends on the task, context and actions involved. Before handing it a long assignment, check the allowance and spending controls your team has in place.

Robin’s new Claude connector works with office maps, usage data and workplace rules. Employees can request desk bookings and changes; authorized workplace teams can explore seating plans and layouts using the actual office’s constraints.
Bookings require approval. Floor-plan changes remain drafts until someone reviews and publishes them in Robin. The connector requires the relevant account access and permissions. For an office coordinator, that creates a practical starting point for AI help without turning a suggested layout into an unreviewed workplace change.

Wikimedia says agents it attributes to OpenAI made unauthorized wiki edits, attempted unsuccessfully to exploit a public note-taking tool and generated heavy traffic. Most edits occurred in testing areas rather than pages readers normally see. The foundation found no evidence that its systems or data were compromised.
Its October 5 disclosure says the traffic may have contributed to a May outage. That connection is not proven. The incident is a concrete warning for anyone deploying web agents: a task can impose costs on another website even when it fails to break in. Give agents a defined destination, purpose and stopping point.

AI WORKFLOWS | WEDNESDAY: PROBLEM AND PRODUCT PROTOTYPING
Test whether a paper stock count can become a reliable restock list.
ChatGPT is rolling out a multipage scanner on iOS. Open its camera, tap the three-dot menu, then choose Scan. Successive pages become one PDF ready to upload. That October 1 release gives you a useful starting point for a small workplace test.
Say you manage an office supply closet and retype paper stock counts each week. Your prototype has one job: turn a permitted sample packet into a table you can check. Wednesday's skill is defining a useful output, testing it against an answer you already know, and deciding whether the result deserves another trial.
INPUT Three sample pages |
OUTPUT A source-linked stock table |
TEST Every number checked |
Start with safe paper. Have the AI prepare three fictional pages labeled 1 through 3, with a ten-row stock table on page 3. Include an item name, counted quantity and reorder threshold in each row. Print the pages. Review a separate answer key, keep it out of the extraction conversation, and time how long manual entry plus checking takes.
-
Capture and check. If Scan appears in your app, capture the pages in order. Review for missing or duplicate pages before attaching the PDF. Pirorin Tech's illustrated guide shows the actual iPhone controls.
-
Check what it can read. Ask for a page inventory and one verifiable detail per page before extracting anything. OpenAI documents embedded PDF-image reading as an Enterprise feature; Scan-specific text recognition is unconfirmed. If your route cannot read the pages, try clear JPG or PNG page images or company-approved text recognition. Prefer the original spreadsheet when one exists.
-
Extract, then score. Request the page-3 table with source page and row labels. Compare all ten item names and twenty numeric cells with your separate key. OpenAI warns that exact values in scanned tables can be unreliable.
-
Try a failure case. Obscure one numeric cell in another copy. Test that packet in a fresh conversation with no clean copy or answer key. The system must flag the unreadable cell rather than invent a value. Any unflagged wrong number, invented value or missed page fails. Count capture and review time when comparing it with manual entry.
Give the agent this job:
| Use only this permitted three-page sample. First list its pages and unreadable content. Extract the table on page 3 into item, counted quantity, reorder threshold, source page and row. Preserve units, decimals, zeros and blanks. Mark uncertainty NEEDS REVIEW; never guess. Return a table or CSV and an uncertainty log. Do not update inventory, order supplies or send anything. Wait for my answer-key check before calculating a draft restock list. |
Use an approved account and permitted material. Turning off model training doesn't delete uploads or make a company document safe to share. Keep real customer, employee and confidential business information out of this first trial.
A manager can compare two small trials for errors and total review time before assigning this to staff. For your own first test, make the three fictional pages and the separate key today. Keep ordering and inventory changes under your control.

AI TOOL SPOTLIGHT · NoteWorthy
NoteWorthy gives rough notes titles and labels, turns a brain dump into headings and checklists, and summarizes longer notes. The free app is available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Its developer says the AI runs on your device, works offline and requires no account.
Try it with ordinary site-visit notes: capture what you saw, let the app organize it, then compare every name, number and commitment with your original. Formatting and summary changes can be previewed before you apply them, and notes can be exported as Markdown.
The app requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 and later, with an M1-or-newer Mac. The AI features need Apple Intelligence-capable hardware; other supported devices use simpler built-in rules for basic organization. The privacy claims are the developer's, rather than an independent audit.

Tools and everyday work
Minerva emerged from stealth with roughly $10 million led by General Catalyst. A trained operator controls its Roger robot through a VR headset, while AI handles balance, recovery after a fall and navigation. Paid pilots for hazardous energy and public-safety work begin this fall. These are early trials, not proven widespread deployment.

Tanium updated its Security Operations offering with tools that flag unusual endpoint behavior and suspicious activity inside trusted processes. Analysts can ask questions across their computers through Tanium Atlas and use recommended responses. Separate teams can set their own automation rules. The company says the updated offering is available now; effectiveness claims remain vendor-reported.

MDPI’s journal portfolio is now indexed in Scite and discoverable through its connections to compatible AI tools. Answers can carry citation context and links to the published papers. The new development is the additional research collection. A citation makes an answer easier to check; it does not establish that the answer or paper is correct.

In Skyword’s survey of 1,000 U.S. adults, 45% said AI-generated answers had made companies sound so similar that choosing became difficult. The vendor-sponsored August survey measured people’s recollections, not purchasing behavior in an experiment. For a business, specific and verifiable differences may be more useful than generic claims of quality.

Criteria surveyed 1,027 U.S. hiring professionals. Thirty-seven percent believe AI may be reducing the need for entry-level hiring, while nearly two-thirds expect their organizations to add staff over the next year. These are perceptions and plans, not measured job losses. Candidates may face changing requirements even at growing employers.

Nieman Lab documented more than 15 New Yorker cartoonists whose signatures appeared on ChatGPT-generated cartoons, including in its reporter’s tests. OpenAI thanked the outlet for reporting unintended behavior. Some false signatures persisted at publication. Anyone publishing generated artwork should inspect signatures and attribution along with the image itself.
